Dear noble martyrs locked within

Hey all, and welcome to the final release of Vyndurvoht. We've worked our way all the way down to the base of the butte, the lowest level of the library. This release concerns the final sub-order of dwarves: the martyvórn. We also take a look at the last two genres of books, and finally the darkness that lurks in the subbasement.

Please note that we will have one additional Vyndurvoht release in a few weeks: the Definitive Edition release. It'll take some time for us to get the map edits, the PDF tweaks, the Foundry module, and the tokens done, but once they're ready, we'll go live with a slightly more complete version of this borough.

Guide

In this final guide, we explore the two remaining genres of dartömen: the Maddening texts (which are exactly what they sound like) and the Sentient texts. The Sentient texts are particularly pesky. With a mind of their own, they can commit acts of villainy as treacherous as any evildoer. Luckily, the noble martyvórn keep watch over this lowest level. It's a good thing they do, because an ever-encroaching darkness threatens the library from the subbasement.

Maps

This week's map shows the martyvórn base front and center: the Dregs is a bit ramshackle, but it's also cozy. To the west, the Maddening texts are stored in increasingly secure levels. To the north, the Sentient texts are chained into their individual cells. To the south, a hatch leads to the treacherous subbasement, and to the northwest, the final section of the butte is finally getting mined. The variant for this map is the most threatening version of the corruption. It rises up from its hostile home in the subbasement.

Music

We've got two tracks for you today! First up, "Down in the Dregs" is a peaceful but eerie Dark Souls-adjacent track that evokes calm and worry in equal measure. A combat variant is perfect for methodical battles with darkness incursions. As a special little bonus for y'all, we've also got a brand new vocal track! "The Things You Do Not Know" is a dwarven work song, a chant for Vyndurvoht miners to sing while they toil away. We've got some bonus vocals from resident Borough Bureau wife Clare Grall who also provided the lyrics. Thanks Clare!

The Insatiable Tome | Collaboration with The Griffon's Saddlebag

BB friend and supporter Griff hooked us up with an awesome item for all of you. While The Griffon's Saddlebag specifically focuses on items for D&D 5e, the mechanics of this hungry book are surprisingly system-agnostic. We've woven the item/character (?) into the narrative of Vyndurvoht, and we have also provided the item card and art into the zip files for each reward tier. Please go support The Griffon's Saddlebag if you want even more incredible homebrew magic items.

Mage

I feel like I don't deserve this level of care. Great stuff! Things You Do Not Know is a banger!

Tronikart

Ooooooh can't wait to have some time to sit down and read through the guide! Just a quick note and idk if its intentional but, the GL maps still have a very low opacity grid, its certainly less noticeable than the gridded ones but still there

Borough Bound

Ahhh, great catch! We'll definitely get that fixed for the Definitive Edition release. Glad you're enjoying the content regardless!
