That was great. I never considered the regal aspect of saints. St Cuthbert is one of Paula's favourites folk saints. I'm fairly well acquainted with St Botolph, having lived in Colchester for 6 years, and there was a priory dedicated to him there. In fact it was the first Augustinian priory in England. And the related priory dedicated to the cephalophoric St Osyth, that nobody from outside Anglia can pronounce, is also quite local.

Saints are such an important part of medieval religion, and that tradition persists in some parts of the Catholic world - as Allison's photos from Lima or Cartagena can attest!
