Really enjoyed your bit of analysis of HPL and REH in here. I think they’re both such fascinating case studies of how certain inflexible far-right views can combine (perhaps counterintuitively) with being a weirdness-loving misfit.

Obviously, people's views change over time and aren't always consistent in the first place. It also aligns with a thing I often say about how everyone, if you look at them in sufficient detail, has these complexities emerge. From a high enough altitude, HPL looks completely ordinary: traditionalist white Republican from the northeast becomes Roosevelt Democrat in response to the Great Depression? Yeah, that checks out.
