I didn't cover enough Hina last time, so here we go again. I don't think this makes it any clearer.

I don't know if it was ever the canon approach, but I've always assumed that a *cleric* has a domain, which describes their interaction with their faith and their god, rather than describing the god as a whole.

That makes sense, but I don't think it's how the rulebook thinks of it: gods are definitely sorted by domain in some of the editions that have them.
