Listener Sam brings you this bonus episode on the mysterious dimension known as the Far Realm and the weird creatures that live there! I wound up talking more about the dimension than the monsters, but I think it works.

The Hoffman text seems to borrow on William Hope Hodgson's House on the Borderland. Or Charles William's Many Dimensions.

I'd not even heard of the Far Realm before. I had a look at the wiki and did like the term Abolethic Sovereignty. I do like their narrative of constant intrusions into the Prime Material plane, although I did wonder why they were so bothered. As non-natives, they'd probably find gravity and time a bit of a drag.

Aboleths are always a bit weird. They're meant to be kind of Cthulhoid monstrosities, but they're a little underdeveloped, so their attempts to dethrone the gods feel kind of charmingly quixotic. Dream big, fish guys!
