I agree strongly with your ideas about the Wild Hunt. In more modern fiction, the hunt is always chasing the good guys for transgressing some unwritten law. Also the fairies have never really been the good guys.

It ties into that thing about it being a similar but not-quite-the-same otherworld. You're always breaking some law you didn't know existed. I think that's actually a pretty common human anxiety, that we might violate some unwritten rule when we find ourselves in an unfamiliar culture.
