I like the parallel that the Grimmjow flashback draws to Renji and Rukia's flashback to the Rukon district when they first got their powers. The Hollows that ascend past being just regular Hollows have a uniquely strong hunger, just like how Renji and Rukia uniquely had a need to eat / metaphorically "grow" that the rest of the Hollows / souls didn't have. I think it's interesting that powers seem to stem from the same source (either literally or metaphorically) and it also makes some cool connections between the more "evolved" Hollows and the Soul Reapers.

I think it's really funny that D Roy was the original leader(?) of the fracciones group and they literally said that they keep him around as a joke now. My headcanon is that D Roy was about as strong / stronger than the rest of the Hollows he was rolling with (Grimmjow could've folded all of them, that's why they were gassing him up so hard) and when he got turned into an Arrancar they made him weak on purpose 💀

Alternatively (and I think the answer they were going for lmao), since his mask was broken he couldn't keep evolving with the rest of them and that's why he's so weak - bro got stuck at level 2 when the rest of them were level 18 lmao
