They handle maintaining the Gate that souls go through to enter and leave the Soul Society and as you saw in these episodes, They also were responsible for undoing the Sōkyoku seal during executions. Out of the 3 organizations that soul reapers can join after graduating the academy (The others being the Stealth Force and 13 Court Squads) It's the one we know least about even as of now with The 1,000 year blood war arc 😭 All we know is that The corp is full of experienced Kido Users and that you rarely see them. Also I still can get over the fact That Ukitake was able to become a captain even with his illness. Like imagine how strong he would be if he wasn't sick.
