I saw Barbie last night, and thought it was incredible. I teared up during the scene with Ruth, then the last joke where she went to see the gynaecologist destroyed me. My friends were laughing more at my snort-laughter than the movie at that point 😂 then I listened to the Billie Eilish song again on the drive home and balled my eyes out. And again this morning. I think it’s an incredibly healing film for a lot of women, of all ages.

I think that was the same sentiment some of my friends felt as well! I agree that scene in particular was really impactful. I just loved that whole exchange. I decided not to say this part in the audio cause I felt like it would be spoilers. So SPOILER WARNING: But I just loved the notion of her going from an idea and just hopes and dreams to an actual human being; it felt like such a beautiful reflection of children and future generations to me. They go from ideas, maybe they will be a professor/president/etc. to becoming a whole ass person lol

Yeah like kids will play with their barbies and act out these big storylines and wild scenarios, and be inspired to have these incredible ambitions. But in reality, the majority of them will go on to live “normal” lives. And that’s fine, that’s amazing. For Barbie to be so excited to just *feel* what it is to be human shows that even if you’re not a doctor or a lawyer or the president, your life is still incredible. Ugh I want to go and watch it again!
