At this point, I do have two different branches I could take the story.

I could turn it into the chronicals of 12 Miles Below and make it about slowly diving down, having to adapt to each biome's oddities in order to get food, shelter and fend off machines. Picking up new spells and powers along the way, ect. Machines are the top dogs, but they're also quite inattentive rulers so long as the subjects aren't humans.

The other branch is that I focus on only the most interesting and needed steps of the journey, the critical characters to meet, ect - and have the story continue straight on course for the ultimate ending.

The poll options will not affect book 6, only future books after. I'll close this poll after 2 weeks.

I voted for dungeon delving. I think it would be thematically appropriate (and satisfying) to actually get to explore "12 miles below" at this point it's such a central part of the plot and the worldbuilding that not doing so would be a narrative disservice. That said, I originally started reading the series for the LitRPG elements, so I'd want that either way (still lamenting over an AU where Keith became deathless and the entire series was just dungeon delving ala that one meeting girls in the dungeon anime). Also I think would leave more space for unresolved/changed plotlines like the deathless ORB and watching Keith interact with other guilds and warlocks. Along those lines, I think Hexis introduced a part of the worldbuilding that felt like uncovering treasure in how we've only ever had the perspective of the surface clans. I was a little sad at the thought of the series ending without getting to take a close look at that part of the lore.

As someone who was absolutely enthused by the world beneath the ice, I think it would be a shame for such a rich world not to be explored. Although the Winterscar and clam shenanigans are interesting, there’s such a massive world with such rich potential that Keith and To’Wrathh have yet to scratch the surface of that the title “12 Miles Below” promises to offer. Either way, I’m definitely looking forward to what the future has to offer.
