I think we've all been waiting for this moment

For what it’s worth, I started to get into ssbm because of the Yard but I don’t know a ton about the people involved. I liked watching the Swiss with the commentary team because they provided the context for the story of the Swiss bracket which I thought was pretty engaging.

I like this episode. Not because of aidens death mind you, it was just a good episode in spite of that.

The topic of this same old fuck shit going down with every online social media, marketplace, etc. is super interesting. The term "enshittification" was coined by Cory Doctorow recently for the "desperate fishing for users"->"desperate monetization" lifecycle of online companies. The idea as I see it is that the existing incentive systems guide companies down this path because even though providing value to the average userbase is required for actual growth and actual real-world usefulness, it yields significantly less surplus for a growing company's shareholders compared to the juicy harvest of business customers. Lots of ink spilled on this topic the last few months, I encourage all to take a gander

I did a half marathon this year with about 4-6 months of consistent training and completed it in 2 hours and 17 minutes, which is about 10.5 minutes per mile. I'm not sure if these guys have ever consistently ran for a sport or just in general, but marathon training is a whole other level, especially if you are trying to lose weight while doing it. Balancing your diet so you aren't hurting yourself and making sure you have energy for your training is rather difficult, but finishing the race is rather rewarding, so good luck either way.

Russian nationalists generally do praise stalin. it’s interesting because they’ll do it in the same breath as praising putin and ignore the ideological contradictions between the two. the nationalist view is that stalin made russia in to a proud and relevant power

11:40 - just have aiden play subway surfers on the side with the goal of getting x far in the game or something with a constant head cam of him playing. The content part is that he’s on the casters couch and they can mess him up

Personally, I don't get the swiss hate. I thought it was really great to see how the players matched up with each other without having to guess who would win if they came up against each other in bracket.

As a person who likes, not loves, watching melee, I like Swiss because more melee = good

Id personally love some longform fitness content. Especially including Slime.

Also, Ludwig complaining about the profitization of projects that begin as passion projects in the same episode as shilling for toyota is hilarious.

Ludwigs hatred of swiss guarantees he is the most killed member of the yard

Swiss was great. Getting more games and matchups from the top players is never a bad thing

Hey I know this is late but here my perspective. I've always been into smash. The yard got me back into smash, melee specifically. I've been listening and hearing these names through YouTube and the yard etc. I watch tournament recap tip 8s because the big names are there. But I've been missing out on all the other top 100 be because who has time to specifically watch matches on these super cool sorry lines. Axe's pikachu vs Swifts pikachu or magi falco analysis play style for example. I loved the Swiss because it let me watch all of these and give more context to incredible players that unfortunately top go to grands. I think for new players getting into the scene (3 months on slippi) the format was amazing and I hope to see more of the side story's develop to get and keep new players hooked. Much love from a trash samus player.
