Wow!! It’s been a while since I’ve seen this. Excellent pick, Neil! I was probably 10 or 11 years old the first time I saw this. It was on HBO, and my feelings then are the same as they are now and every time I see this movie - absolute horror, deep sadness and overwhelming anger. The always magnificent John Hurt (who also played the wand shop owner Mr. Ollivander in Harry Potter) delivered one of the most powerful performances I have ever seen. This film has never left me.

Also, fun fact: the dwarf that helps Merrick escape from the baboon cage was played by Kenny Baker - known to audiences all over the world as R2-D2. :)
