Really enjoyed the video :) Just brace yourself for the elimination episodes if you felt like this one could've been cut down cause those are soo drawn out considering they're mostly just calling up names and some speeches...But they splice in some variety style content for those eps so they're still worth watching imo

My sister and I made our brother (non kpop fan) watch this show with us, and he also had so many jokes to make about Back Door 🤣

You said you don't know Wanna One, it's notsurprising as they are not together anymore. They were the first Boy Group formed by Mnet in the survual show Produce 101 so their contract has ended. They were HUGE and I would say they redefined what it meant to be a project group. The current host is a former memeber. Most of the members are off doing their own thing with other groups, solos, acting etc.

People saying Mnet did Evil editing on Krystian (the guy who was undermining the leader and spoke Chinese even though he knew the leader couldn’t understand Chinese) Reasons why I really don’t think Mnet evil edited Krystian but just showed us is personality is: - Krystian is fluent in English but choose to speak Chinese well knowing the fact that Kamden (the leader can’t understand Chinese) Major red flag - Continue to do so even though Kamden voice out “I’m sorry what are you guys talking about” - Continue to undermine Kamden even though Kamden is the leader. I’m sorry but this is not evil editing. I felt so disturbed and felt sick to my stomach to see him speak in Chinese and not English when he knew how to speak English cuz he knew Kamden couldn’t understand chinese. It gave so many bad memories for when I immigrated to a Denmark and I couldn’t speak Danish and they knew but continue to speak Danish instead of speaking English when they could. Seeing Krystian do this made me so upset.

And when people say 'huge' it's not an understatement. They were one of the top 3 groups during their 18 months together. Also, their debut song 'Energetic' was one of the biggest songs of that year, that's why everyone was so shocked to see its writer (Hui) become a contestant in Boys Planet. Ho and Hui had also written one of the songs for the 3rd round of Produce season 2 (that formed Wanna One), it's called Never and it's IMO even better than Energetic :)

I'm so happy that you decided to check this series, having lots of fun to be rewatching with you. I hope you're fully ready when Boys Planet morphs into Fruity Planet in like ep 5/6 and lets it run wild until the finale wedd- I mean finale episode. I agree that episodes are long, but the pace picks up a little in following episodes (it helps when the crew gets smaller) UNLESS its an elimination episode - many people watched elimination episodes on x1.25 or x1.5 speed because its just time consuming lol.

Yeah….it’s one thing to speak Chinese if your Korean is bad bc that’s only other language you can speak, but literally everyone knows Kamden is fluent in English, so it does not at all sit right with me. That’s an active choice, a really bad one. Krystian could have acted as translator or something and maybe scored some points with viewers by helping Kamden. The fact that he didn’t even try is pretty telling.

Absolutely agree. I feel like people like Krystian and Majing Xiang gets so forcused on getting the most lines and doing killing parts that they forget that voters love looking at character as well.

can’t wait for ep 4!!!

I don't disagree with you as this did make really uncomfortable the first time I watched this. But to play a little devil's advocate what if Mnet only showed the parts where Krystian was speaking in Chinese and not the parts where he translated the words in English. Some of the members only really spoke Chinese and half the time there were no professional translators the members just had to figure it out. In the next episode you see Krystian speaking in both English and Chinese and translating a tiny bit. Ricky was also trying to help translate as he is fluent in Chinese and English. But the language issue was very difficult for G Group. As a lot of times there was not a common language all of the members spoke. Honestly, it was even worse on Girls Planet because more of the members here speak English fluently/ proficiently then on Girls Planet possibly due to the diversity of countries participating (GP was only Chinese and Japanese contestants). Plus, a lot of G group here is pretty strong in Korean being of Korean decent Brian, Kamden, Jay. Small aside I didn't list Matthew because you can tell he's still learning Korean and may not have spoke it a ton at home. And having some G group contestants that have already debuted Krystian (in a global based in UK group), Winnie, and Keita. Kamden is the only member of this group that spoke Korean Fluently. Ricky and Krystian do pretty well in Korean but are more fluent in English than Korean. A couple more spoke English but there were a few that only spoke Chinese. This is a big reason why professional translators would be important. Part of why Zi Hao doesn't do as well especially with the Korean fan base is he really struggled with Korean. On the other side Zhang Hao is really good at Korean. Which given that this is an audition show for a Kpop group emphasis on the K it makes sense to be able to speak the language. You can always tell if a G group member is pretty good in Korean based off the interviews. If they are speaking in their native tongue be it Chinese, Japanese, Tagalong, Thai, etc. then they are not super good at Korean. And there are a good amount whose 2nd language is English and their 3rd or 4th is Korean so they tend to do interviews mixed with Korean and English. Haruto is the first that comes to mind there. His native language is Japanese and he is fluent in English and he's pretty strong in Korean so he supplements his Korean with English. Sorry for the essay just wanted to point out that some of the evil editing could be due to language barriers and frustration at the inability to express your ideas. The issue with Ma Jing Xiang later is a good example of the language barrier. He didn't want to keep talking it out because it had to go through 2 languages for anyone to be understood. This doesn't just happen on shows it happens in other trainee environments. An iconic trainee fight that happened because of language frustrations was with Mark from Got7 and Hui back in the day. BAP's Youngjae and JB tried to help and got caught up in the fight. Young K aka Brian from Day6 who spoke Korean and English had to help them resolve it. Here's the video were Jinyoung and JB talk about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-XQ5IXT9aQ When you have different cultures and language barriers clashing sometimes there is conflict.

I get where you’re coming from I also hate Mnet evil editing but I don’t know Kamden’s reaction while it was al happening tells me otherwise.. but ofc one can never know the 100% truth.

Catching up with the BOYS PLANET reaction For EP 3, I will just say, by rewatching it with you, especially during VERY NICE G-GROUP part with the choosing leader section, it's just came to my mind how hard the communication for G-GROUP must have been. (especially since MNET doesnt allow translators to help) Communication is one big key for a good teamwork and atmosphere in general which is also important in a performance, G-GROUP had it hard here, not to mention depending on their countries, the training they get, can be quite different (who could explain their different/firm opinion) in opposition to K-GROUP where usually koreans trainees get simlar training even if it can vary and they also speak the same language which is easier in communication. Most of G-GROUP end up making good performances even if there are some littles mistakes here and here but one thing I just thought about, G-GROUP teamd who did really well, almost had no mistakes and no problem with teamwork which are like KILL THIS LOVE G-GROUP or LOVE ME RIGHT G-GROUP are teams with members who speak multiples languages, which made their work a bit easier. For example, KTL team have most of the members who have an okay koreans, I know Zihao have a hard time with Korean but since he is Chinese, there were Zhanghao, Kuan Jui who could help. Meanwhile LMR G-GROUP have Haruto (Japanese who speak Koreans so well, just like English and learned a bit of Chinese during the show I think) but also Wumuti (Chinese, who speak Korean almost like a native, I think English is also okay and he speak Uyghur too) For VERY NICE team, I agree with K-GROUP winning but I'm always so impressed with Cong, because I do think, he is a great and intelligent singer. He couldn't do the high note like the original so he switched it up to be comfortable with i, which I'm really amazed by, everytime I watch it. For KILL THIS LOVE, it's a shame Hwanhee couldn't show everything he got, in my opinion he is one of the best singer in the show, it's unfortunate he was sick a lot of time. It was also risky for him to force like that when he got vocal cord nodule. In LOVE ME RIGHT G-GROUP, I feel like Jay was also comfortable switching part with Wumuti since they know each others from before They did another survival together which is UNDER NINETEEN. (with others BOYS PLANET participants like Seunghwan from DANGER K-GROUP and Min from KILL THIS LOVE G-GROUP) The one you find cute and like is Anthonny, he is Filipino/Japanese and was in PRODUCE 101 JAPAN S2 (he ranked quite high during this show) LOVE ME RIGHT G-GROUP teamwork was so goodd and they also have people who are quite experienced actually : Anthonny who did PRODUCE, Winnie who is from NINE.i, Haruto did the survival show from JYP/YG called LOUD, Jay did UNDER NINETEEN (by the way he is from the same agency as TEAM 20:00 the duo with the member that you like on PEAK TIME) and Wumuti did multiples dance/singing show in China, did multiples season of SUPER IDOL before debuting in a Chinese group (SWIN) to end up in Korea doing UNDER NINETEEN (he was always around TOP1 but for personal reason retired during the final). I think Dang HongHai and Haru are the less experienced on this. The teamwork is so good that now Haruto and Haru call Wumuti their mother 😂
