Kingdom Episode 4

As a designer I absolutely hate when I get feedbacks like “oh this is great 🙂” I can’t used that for anything. I need descriptive explanation on why it is good and criticism to make the design even better. Criticism to me is apart of a process for the final product to be just right 👏🏼

I loved what you said about criticism in the creative world and about things going wrong on stage. I've been involved in (musical) theatre for over 3 decades now and always tell my cast and everyone who will listen that there will always be mishaps on stage. It's how you handle the things going wrong or not as planned that matters. The audience doesn't have a script (which is a little different maybe with these shows...I wonder if the professional panel also sees the rehearsal and so can more easily spot things going wrong, I don't know that part). So as long as you handle it in a professional way....it's all good. And criticism is something you have to learn how to learn from instead of letting it get to you. It's not easy, mind you, but you learn from constructive criticism. And you learn nothing from "that was great". Still....every now and then it's nice to hear LOLOL. Having said this, for me, The Boyz' performance didn't miss that spark because of a staff not igniting. That, I wouldn't have missed. But the performance on a whole didn't do it for me. And I've read many comments praising them for this. I just...didn't. I think my fav of the first three was Ikon. BUt SF9 was really good too. They really regrouped after realising they didn't have enough time together. Enjoying this journey with you.

The six groups are all great. But some rounds they perform better than other rounds. This the Boyz' performance was not might favourite of theirs. Like others said it misses something. SF9 really stepped it up for this round. I like the whole group but Dawon and Jaeyoon just have something special for me. They are talented, funny, adorable and have great bodies. I like Ikon a lot, although I did miss Hanbin (B.I.) when watching this show. Ikon are showing they are enjoying the performance and they made this song their song! I think they did great.

SF9 really impressed me this episode. I was new to them and I hadn't fallen in love with them in the first round but the second round I was so impressed by how they levelled up I feel like I got to see the real performers they are. The first round was okay but it felt more like a series of individual moments than giving me an impression of them as a group. Seeing them as a group together and their storyline approach made them a favourite for me. Also, rewatching this I've noticed how when Stray Kids talk about the other performances they tend to take a technical view, commenting on the arrangement or staging. It's really interesting seeing how different groups think and respond to things. It's one of the reasons I love reactions because they can often bring out new elements you haven't seen or thought of and you can enjoy it in a whole new way.

LoLo

SF9's performance in this round is what drew me to them and got me to stan! I really enjoyed that one and it was one of my faves out of the whole show. Also to answer your question - the Taeyang that did the song "Vibe" is from the 2nd gen group BigBang (they are legends). SF9 Taeyang usually goes by Yoo Taeyang now!

Jinhwan from Ikon is indeed adorable! I also love what he said about not going to conceptual cuz that’s just not apart of IKON’s identity. Ugh I just love all the ikon boys ♥️ I actually started watching Kingdom because of Ikon! Back then I didn’t know stray kids. But after watching kingdom I ofc still love ikon but also developed a huge love for Stray kids as well!

AHHHH I forgot how great IKON’s performance was! Like legit I love LOVE how it always looks so effortless with ikon and how you can see they’re literally playing and having fun on stage! Makes you want to have fun with them too!

Personally from all the 3 performances I saw I’ve to say it’s 1. Ikon and sf9 and the boyz are equalling for me. I really liked IKON’s and liked how they made it their own while still holding true to the songs origin. And always love how when they perform it gets me so hyped up! For sf9.. it was not bad but also not good. I still found it a bit messy and there were so many things happening. I felt like they squeezed in everything and included everything they possibly could instead of having a main focus. Not the best I’ve seen from them. For The boyz I liked the idea of their concept but the execution of that concept fell short and flat which is such a bummer because we all know how great and talented the boyz are. Those are my 2 cents 😂

Fans not knowing how to differentiate between fair criticism and hate, is one of the reasons why fan spaces were exhausting during the show's run. There were so many people who thought the criticism The Boyz received was 'too much', when I had about the same reaction as the judges - their best stages in Road to Kingdom had been the ones with a simpler staging that heavily relied on their performance abilities. So I really liked the relatively simplicity of The Red Wedding, it was not perfect but still got one of my votes.

I agree some fans don't know how to differentiate between fair criticism and hate and need to be more objective with certain things and calm however I do agree with the fans who were upset about the critcism The Boyz recieved because it was from a professional and yet they were speaking on behalf of the fans. If the "professional judge" had said that THEY were disappointed compared to what they were expecting from RTK fans would have been slightly annoyed but accepted it however they said "It was a disapointing performance for the fans" and all the fans were like "??? we literally don't feel that way at all why is this random person speaking for us making the members think we're disappointed in them??" like that was not their place. Also, I actually think this stage was my favorite of The Boyz in Kingdom, it wasn't all about the fancy stage settings or some crazy storyline but mainly focused on the performance and vocals which is what I loved from RTK and was missing through out Kingdom from all groups. Also also, for some reason (possibly copywrite?) there was a tango duet between Juyeon and one of the back up dancers in the beginning of the performance that got cut on Viki but is still there in the YouTube upload that I think cut some of the Tango vibes and took away from the performance a bit.
