Ready to watch that after my work. Just 2 hours to wait 😌

Ailaudy93

i agree with the voting system. But if I remember right, people were complainning about the "professionals", that the votes were biased ... so in some futur episode at the end they revealed the professionals

psynergic

Thanks for the info!! Good to know it was just a really bad system all around lol 😅

About the member blurred in BTOB : he is guilt and had a jail time for using marijuana (but still love him) But the IKON member was innocent but cut of the group

So actually even though minhyuk from btob is in his 30s, he does still flip :) he flipped during their 10th anniversary concert. Also, he is known as a legend in Idol Star Athletics Championships because he appeared 8 times on the program and won 20 medals in total. His record in high jump is still not broken by other younger idols.

I absolutely agree with you with the whole voting system. Cuz by making the fans vote count 50% just meant that it's more of a fight of "who is more popular" or "who has a bigger/ more determent fandom" and not much who actually slayed a performance. It pissed me off so much. Also don't even get me started on who these "Kpop professionals" were half of them were not even qualified to judge these boy groups that are competing. Like a random rapper would be evaluating bobby the rapper of IKON and very known and respected rapper in the korean hiphop scene. You'll see. It was so infuriating. T_T

You need to react to Winner! They're such an amazing group with so many good songs! Really Really is definitely one of their hit songs!

Just started watching your reaction to this! Yes you should watch Road to kingdom even though you know who wins! While there was not the same budget behind it, the performances are amazing and you know more than just The Boyz out of the groups particiapting.

All the performances are so good and I love watching the other teams get hyped up watching too. I agree that the voting isn't necessarily ideal for finding the technical "best" group but I can see the logic of the show. (Apologies my Media MA is kicking in). In kpop fandoms are vital it seems, you don't seem to get a lot of casual fans, so outside of having a big viral song reaching new audiences could be tricky, especially in the pandemic situation they were in, unable to perform for nearly 2 years. Whilst the public voting does make popularity a large part, the weight of the viewer vote also prompts active engagement from fans. This creates both an event, and reignites that sense of a fandom- as fans coordinate, share voting times, encourage each other etc.. When you can't get together for shows etc. it's not a bad way of giving that collective event experience (good or bad). Equally, a lot of single fandom people will be exposed to new groups. I discovered all new groups outside Stray Kids from this, and having the three votes does encourage you to consider other groups too. If you look at the show as a competition to find the "best" group it's not perhaps the most successful. But if you look at it as what it actually is- a chance for each group to promote themselves, reach a wider audience, and stay relevant during a period of highly restricted activities, it's not uneffective. Also, the experts aren't necessarily as neutral as you would hope. It depends a lot on their personal tastes too. As for the self-evaluation, whilst you could say it's an opportunity for tactical voting, they are all fans of each other, and they're also paying detailed attention to each other, breaking down the performances to figure out their competition and how to learn from them. It requires an honour code approach but knowing who each of the groups deem the most impactful is interesting. You get the performer's judgement- who know what it's like to make those stages and the demands on a performer's skill to present them; you get the expert judgement, the critics and choreographers, the technical industry voice; you get the audience voice, aka the people who will go out and attend shows and buy albums. Knowing how you best appeal to each group and where you want to focus on appealing more is useful info for these groups you could argue (I think that's also where the wanting to work harder for views mentality thing comes from too). I really love music and the power and impact it has, and I agree a lot of these shows have issues and biases, but if you look at it as an industry, these groups function as music makers but also performers who need a business head as well as an artistic one to be able to reach their audiences effectively. I don't necessarily believe popular votes can say who the 'best' is, but I can understand the logic of why they did that. (That was a really long ramble I just find the mechanics of the kpop industry and how shows like this work interesting.) All that aside, I watch these performances kind of wishing there was no last place. They're all so good and their growth even within a single episode impresses me so much. These people are professionals of a very high calibre.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this again with you. I still can't get over the fact that you don't know anything about the outcome, how the groups did in each round, or even knew much of the other groups. That makes it so much more enjoyable to watch this. I hope nothing in comments will spoil that for you (and us). Yes, everyone stepped up their game. The Boyz stole my heart with the water fear and the whole filming process. Their stage was awesome. Ikon...what a huge difference with the first stage. Amazing. Loved this stage. And Bobby...well...he's my fav. Although at this point in Kingdom I hadn't discovered him completely yet. BtoB....I really found them through Kingdom. Peniel was the only one I'd heard of before, because of his friendship with Chan. But none of the others. And they just jumped right into my soul. They are such great people. Not to mention amazing performers. AND singers (as a singer myself that is something that really appeal to me). But mostly it's their personality that really attracted me first. And that only grew through this whole journey. As it will for you, I am positive. Can't wait for next week!!

LoLo

I'm so glad I joined your Patreon to watch this with you, it's been so much fun already! I'm getting emotional rewatching this and seeing how far each group has come in the past 2 years. I actually became a huge fan of SF9 because of Kingdom! And Killing Me became my fave song from iKon because of this performance. Looking forward to seeing your reactions to all my fave moments from this show. :D

Particularly I'm loving watching your journey with. this reality! I am thrilled to review all of this, because at the time I was just stay (I surrendered to BTOB) and it was a hard time for us. Anyway, I'm loving seeing your reactions and the fact that you're totally in the dark for this makes the reaction so much more exciting and realistic! I don't know about the other groups, because I really got away from everything involving kingdom for a while but Stray Kids released behind-the-scenes episodes when the show ended, on their YouTube channel! I'm sorry if the English isn't good, it's not my first language so I have a little difficulty with the writing, but I can't wait for the reaction of the next episode!

Is it weird that I talk back to you in the videos like we're having a conversation?
