Wouldn't it be Alaric welcoming Laura? I mean, he died first.

This is awesome! Those who have already endured many difficulties or travels (E.G. Laura, and Keith years down the road) get to shortcut to Valhalla. Alaric lived in relative comfort, so he had to work and journey over the night and at least part of the next day in order to find the gate.

So it's Alaric after all...Nonetheless, I honestly sense something grimly ironic behind Laura being the Valkyrie. Could it be a foreshadowing of a new foe?

It's almost a coincidence, because I've been hoping to see angels and demons thrown in the mix a la Shin Megami Tensei. If anything, it'll at least force the Human, Keidran and Basitin races to work together and fight a common foe.
