Hello friends.

I was reminded that this reaction to Genesis' Nursery Cryme is now blocked worldwide on YouTube. So, I'm making it available here to our Patrons. I hope you enjoy!

This album was my introduction to Genesis after hearing them "Musical Box" on WNEW-FM in NYC on Scott Muni's "Things From England" slot in 1972. I bought the album as a Charisma import (along with my first Monty Python album), and proceeded to wear it out. I was utterly charmed. It's church-like, pastoral, eccentric, a little Crimson-ish, occasionally dark and threatening. There are moments of exceptional delicacy as well as distorted beauty, and the balance between keyboard-dominated and guitar-dominated numbers makes for a throughly enjoyable listen. Both, the intro to 'Salmacis' and the mellotron climax in 'Seven Stones' floored me like nothing since first hearing In the Court of the Crimson King. Thanks for bringing this one back out, Doug !

The "creepy ghost " comment is amusing on The Musical Box 😃
