Yesterday, on our discord server, I presented about an hour of some of my favorite choral music selections and performances for the Christmas season. I was asked to make the recording available, and I'm happy to do so here.

This is a podcast version of a presentation I made to my Patreon audience on Sunday, December 18, 2022. I shared about an hour's worth of some of my personal favorite choral works for the Christmas season.

I would love to hear you tackle one of history's greatest musical compositions: Handel's "Messiah." This is my favorite selection from any musical category (Sorry Roger Waters or Jon Anderson!). I'm sure that reacting/analyzing highlights from his magnum opus would be enlightening (and a first-time reaction on their end) to many viewers on your channel (who have never heard of Handel's work). Maybe next year's Christmas selection?

That's a lovely idea. Maybe a Behind the Score to a particular chorus or solo? There are entire semester-long college courses devoted just to this piece...lol

I'm soon to be writing some choral music, having acquired the necessary technology, so was thrilled to listen to these beautiful offerings. That Helvering's gonna go far, I predict. Play more of him. Others for future consideration are Arvo Part, Henrik Gorecki, Randall Thompson, Virgil Thomson, Eric Whitacre, Phillip Glass, Ligeti (and Meatballs) and Kings Singers, many iterations of whom have oft' graced the halls and walls of Sanders Theatre, where great music happens. At Christmas I usually love to hear Sussex Carol, Wexford Carol, Coventry Carol, Dancing Day, O Caro Bambino, Stille Nacht, Adeste Fideles, Es Ist Ein Ros Enstsprungen, Andy William's Most Wonder Time, Carol of Bells, O Holy Night, Good King Wensaslas, I Wonder as a Wander, and/or Several Species.
