New Fan Favorites for September: Diamonds in the Rough, Volume II (Patreon)

We have launched the September voting for Fan Favorites, happening exclusively over on our discord server. (Please don't put a suggestion in the comments here and expect for it to be considered.) Remember, participation in discord and in the polls are open to all Patron tiers!

Fan Favorites Overview

The Fan Favorites Series publishes one video per month, focusing on a specific genre or subject area. Members of Helvering’s Army will each submit their favorite pick based on the month’s topic, whether that topic be their favorite guilty pleasure, Beatles song, or desert island track. The community is invited to up-vote submissions to show support for these songs making it to the round of polling. About halfway through the month, Doug will issue a poll with many of the top-voted submissions. In the end, several recommendations will be included in that month’s video, in which Doug will play and react to all the winning songs.

This Month’s Theme: Diamonds in the Rough, Volume II

In September, we are returning to the topic of Diamonds in the Rough. I so much enjoyed our first round of underappreciated bands and songs earlier this year. And, I know there’s plenty more great options out there. So, we’re after your best pick for an Artist/Song that moves you that has gone overlooked by the mainstream music-listening audience.

Here’s the stipulations:

1) The submission needs to be a publicly available YouTube video that has less than 250k views at the time of submission.

2) The band/musician needs to have not yet been included on the Daily Doug YouTube channel, Extended Play Lounge, or Behind the Score. (A previous Council Chat or Fan Favorites video inclusion is fine.)

3) The song duration limitation for this round will remain as before…keep it to 15 minutes or less.

How to Post

• Add your submissions directly in the fan-favorites channel on Discord.

• Each Member of Helvering’s Army is allotted one submission per month in this series.

• To engage the bot for this channel, the format of your submission needs to start with:

.suggest

• Then, include the following: Name of Song, Name of Band/Artist, a short backstory (optional), and YouTube link.

Posting Rules

• Messages that do not use this suggestion system will be deleted.

• You may only make one fan favorites submission. Duplicates or any additional submissions by a single user will be deleted. If you want to replace a submission, please visit our help channel and create a ticket to have that changed.

• You can discuss suggestions for the fan favorites series in the recommend-discuss channel. No discussion threads on this channel, please.

• Only use public YouTube links.

• We’re looking for individual songs, less than 15 minutes in duration, not full albums or extended odysseys.

• If there is a technical issue with a submission, send a DM to @TheDon 📯 (Megan).

• You may upvote your own submissions.

• If your suggestion matches another patron’s, please go ahead and add yours as well. Encourage your peers to upvote both.

• If there are duplicate submissions, their up-votes will be added together to arrive at the community’s vote total for the song.

This Month's Timetable:

• Submitting/Voting Starts: Saturday, September 10

• Submitting/Voting Stops: Friday, September 16

• Patreon Poll Starts: Saturday, September 17

• Patreon Poll Ends: Friday, September 23 23

• Fan Favorites Video Release: Last Week of September

Users who repeatedly misuse the suggestion system may be excluded from the recommendation channels entirely and also may be banned from the server. Please report any misuse to an administrator or moderator. Also, report any bugs or glitches while using this recommendations system.
