After a few weeks of submissions and community voting, we have a list of 19 songs up for your consideration. This month's theme is cover songs. I'm listing the Title, then the Artist, then the Original Artist for clarification.

Vote for your favorite 5 on this list that you want me to hear. The top 10 (approximately) will get into the video.

The poll is live through Saturday the 23rd. Happy voting!

Humble Pie.............I Don't Need No Doctor. Great to see Rachel in there. Her connection to Keith's music is unbelievable and I'm sure his death must have hit her very hard - probably more than anyone else.

John Clark

Can't get excited by any of these, I'm afraid to say.

Not too excited about those. How about these? Mars The Bringer of War - King Crimson - Gustav Holst (10:11) Pictures At An Exhibition - ELP - Modest Mussorgsky (53:05 - Epic length) Ionisation - Frank Zappa - Edgard Varèse (6:50) Bouree - Jethro Tull - Bach (3:52) Toccata - ELP - Alberto Ginastera (7:23) Egg - Fugue In D Minor - Bach (2:50 - Not a lot of Canterbury scene has been on the channel) Toxic - Marillion - Britney Spears (4:34) Or maybe something from A Perfect Circle's Emotive album?

I'm surprised that Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along the Watchtower isn't the one on the list.

From #announcements: "What we’re after are great interpretations of classic songs by other artists…NOT classic songs made famous by famous artists (where the cover is the more well-known version). For example, a suggestion of All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix would be bad, because his version is the most famous version (more famous than Dylan’s original). But, if you were to suggest a female singer-songwriter doing a killer interpretation of a coffee-house version of All Along the Watchtower, I’d be down for that."

For those not vibing with these selections, remember that these are cultivated via our discord (which you all have access to). The first round of submissions and community up-voting happen there each month. I hope you'll participate with us to share your ideas next time!

Agreed with Doug. We also have events where we play the songs in the Discord. That attracts upvotes and largely informs what makes the final list. I’ve heard all of these and there are some real gems here. This is going to be a fun video.

The dream theater covers of Elton John and Queen are so good. Hope that they make the top 5 cut.

For me, one song soars above the rest: Nothing Compares 2 U (well-written, strong song) by Chris Cornell (the most amazing voice on this list, for sure). Each stands tall on its own, but together they are more than the sum of its parts.

Ash Armstrong

I'm slightly surprised no one has mentioned the entire side of cover versions on Todd Rundgren's Faithful album from 1976: The Yardbirds - Happenings Ten Years Time Ago; Beach Boys - Good Vibrations; Beatles - Rain; Bob Dylan - Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine; Jimi Hendrix - If Six Was Nine; Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever. They are, as the album title suggests, faithful to the originals to an uncanny degree.

Great Scott

I'm curious -- this will be a poll by "likes" -- that is, click the heart icon on one of the two replies just below this. It concerns the Rachel Flowers cover of Karn Evil 9 2nd Impression. There are two good versions, and I'm interested in how many of you (who actually bother to read the comments here) are willing to open the replies and click on one of the hearts, so please continue with this:

Great Scott

Click like/heart on this post if you prefer the Solo Piano version of Rachel doing KE9 2nd Impression, which is here at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPGoWvIRY4M it's quite good, but to me, it lacks something.

Great Scott

Click like/heart on this post if you prefer the cover version with Rachel, but includes additional people filling in the bass and percussion and someone doing the "steel drum" synth parts, which is here at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1LIRhZchHg There's nothing wrong with the solo cover on the other link -- my preference is the full band, but that's me.
