I'm pleased to announce that I'm offering a class called The Art of Music Composition during July and August, 2022.  We'll have a combination of virtual classroom instruction and  private virtual instruction. The classes and lessons will be administered via zoom.

As laid out in the video, here's the basics:

- 2 sessions (tiers), 15 person maximum per session
- classes meet: July 7, 14, 21, 28 and August 4, 11, 18, 25
- early session meets at 2:00pm eastern time
- late session meets at 8:00pm eastern time
- class sessions are each one hour long
- individual lessons scheduled independently
- each month there are 4 1-hour classes and 1 half hour lesson
- price is $100 per month ($200 total)
- payment handled via the tier (patreon membership)
- class members get Council of Dougs tier access during July-August

I'll be launching these tiers on patreon on Friday, June 3. I won't start publicizing the class until Sunday, June 5.

Class participants need not have access to music software, instruments, or hardware. One can take my class with a paper/pencil or a full studio.

Please add a comment or DM me with questions. I'm looking forward to these classes!

Intriguing! If a participant was not able to show up on their allotted session time on a particular day, could they attend the other session time, or would just remain in that original time slot for the entirety of the course and use the recordings when necessary? Also what are some expectations/examples of class participation you foresee?

Exciting! What prior knowledge do you expect from participants? What time commitment outside of the sessions do you expect is necessary to learn effectively?

I love this idea and I will definitely join the class. What prior knowledge is required?

I hadn't planned on it, but I suppose it would be ok to attend the other session on occasion. They'd be different zoom links in different tiers, so it would probably be by request. As far as participation, I'm expecting questions and robust discussion. One might occasionally share something they're working on...but that's about it.

I'll be discussing rudiments (chords, scales, meters, etc.) as if they're already understood. As far as outside time commitment, I'm expecting students to be working on their own material and maybe some light reading.

doughelvering

See above...if you know your chords, scales, and meters, you should be fine!

I'm all in. I hope I can get my spot. I trust your wisdom, Dr. and I would love to be able to "steal" some for my own use :)

Would love to do this but sadly the local time zone makes it a no-go. Living in Australia can be a pain at times :(
