In the previous EPL, we took a look at Rush and their Moving Pictures (1981). Before that, we listened to Rick Wakeman's Six Wives of Henry VIII (1973). I loved both of them!

This time, though, I'm looking to dive into a newer recording, so, I've chosen potential albums that were released after 2000. The list of bands and musicians here represent some of my personal favorite "finds" since I've been doing The Daily Doug.

Happy voting! This episode will drop around the first of June.

Hand Cannot Erase is the best album by either Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson so I truly hope that wins. Just pure brilliance from beginning to end. Among my top five albums of the 21st century.

HCE is a great one! However, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed to one day see BE win as it is amongst my favorite albums!

BE!!!!

I can't wait until he dives into more Pain of Salvation. IMO, Daniel Gildenlow is the best lyricist alive in modern progressive rock, and arguably the best vocalist. He has such a way with words like no other. Even if you don't listen to his music, you can read his lyrics like poetry, but the music added on top just takes it to a whole new level.

Can someone explain why BE is the chosen album from PoS and not Remedy Lane? How did that happen?

Hand Cannot Erase is a masterpiece, maybe can include the 4 1/2 EP as well, some great work that was dropped off the main release

I just accepted a song from Remedy Lane onto our active list. Hope to get to more PoS soon.

H.C.E is a true masterwork. I’ve been listening to prog for going on 50 years and I figured, at this point, no newer album would make it into my top 10 – but this one sure did. One of the best concept albums I’ve come across. Both the music and the story. And, for the cherry on top, I was able to pick up the super-deluxe version multi-disc version. Probably the best packaging I’ve seen for a single album release. All of the extras found in the “coffee table” sized book really helped to get inside the story. The whole project is just stunning. P.S. another newer album that made my top 10 is Richard Henshall's "The Cocoon". Definitely worth checking out.

Hell Yes for "The Cocoon" is great. Next time Doug makes a poll for solo artist albums for EPL, this is definitely one that should be on the list to be voted on. I'll still say H.C.E. is a tough listen, but I think I'll be able to take Doug's reaction in small doses. Hopefully.

I think Marillion has done a masterful job with AHBID. Their sound has evolved over the years. But I still like them for the same reason I did 40 years ago. Beautiful music, and heart-on-the-sleeve lyrics. A warm hug in times of turmoil for me.

Had to go with Be.

I believe I'm responsible for this, because I suggested BE in Discord recommendations channel. For me it's their most adventurous album and it really fits in Extended Play Lounge concept. Remedy Lane is also an excellent album.

Sadly BE won't win, it is a long time since Doug reacted to Pain of Salvation. Nevertheless, Hand. Cannot. Erase. deservedly won the public vote, it is a very good album.
