Fan Favorites Episode 3 - POLL (Patreon)

We've had two great Fan Favorites episodes in February and March, but I'm REALLY looking forward to this one. In April, we've been asking you for your favorite Guitar Solos. The submissions and voting have been ongoing on our discord, and the finalists here are the top-voted 20 submissions. It's a great list! I can't wait to see which ones gain the most votes.

Comfortably Numb was very high in the vote count for both the studio and live (Pulse) version. So, I've included both in this poll...so that we can have a proper vote on which one to include. (Usually, we only advance one song from an artist into this final round of voting...to widen the scope of repertoire.)

So...Your Task: 

- First, Vote for either Comfortably Numb Studio or Comfortably Numb Live, then

- Vote for your top 5 that you really want to see. (You'll, then, be casting six votes.)

The top ten vote-getting finalists will make it into the Fan Favorites video!

The poll will run through Sunday, April 24. I'll plan on recording and releasing the Fan Favorites video during the last week of April. Happy voting!

These are all here for a reason, so no matter what 10 rise to the top, they will all be good. The final touch is Dr. Doug’s expert analysis, but you do know if the one you wanted didn’t make the cut, you can always listen to any of these (and much more) on our own, right? All good!

Like I said earlier, whichever 10 it lands on will be totally fine, but since some people are feeling like some artists are not getting the love they were expecting, Doug, maybe you need to turn this into a Fan Favorite/Extend Play Lounge Extravaganza! It’s only 20 tracks. You just did Similitude and it was 23 tracks. What better way to pay tribute to all these guitarist during this month? You’re just the man to get it done, Dr. Doug! 😃 Besides, we know you’d really enjoy the $&@# out of doing it!!! 😉

Those complaining about the voting system, I hear you. I find it a travesty some of the usual bands are ahead of some classic guitar solos. However, I mean it is "fan favorites", so popularity among Patreon as it pertains to this section of the reactions is the barometer.

Just want to add my name to list of people requesting the Yessongs version of "Starship Trooper" if it should be included. Yessongs is one of my all time favorite albums and I just prefer these live versions to the studio versions. There is so much energy from the band and Steve's guitar solos definitely shine throughout the whole album but especially on that version of Starship Trooper.

There are many magnificent guitarists who rarely see the light of day in "best of" lists. David Bainbridge (Iona), Uwe Darose (Landmarq), Nick Barrett (Pendragon), and Bernhard Beibl (Tangerine Dream) to name a few, are fantastic musicians.

Encouraging to see the band UK feature in one of Doug’s polls. It would be enlightening to hear Doug wax lyrical about UK.

I was unable to participate in the initial selection vote. If we are talking guitar solos, where is Jimmy Page, Randy Rhoads (live Suicide Solution), Steve Vai, etc.?

You left out Jethro Tull's Aqualung. Martin Barre's solo on that is EPIC.

If there are 20 options, there will always be some artists missing. This is natural. A million epic solos missing. So everybody be happy with the 20 options. :-)
