Man, does this take me back. I drove 9 hours to hear them on this tour in Vegas, with Hornsby. Santana opened. Imagine 50,000 hippies standing and swaying under the Nevada sun for 4+ hours... then there was the post-concert 'campout'. My memory gets a little blurrier after that.

My recollection is that they played 2 nights there, with Little Feat opening for them. In the time before cell phones, our group of Dead Head friends would drive down from CT, RI, MA, and NH and we would rendezvous at the Vince Lombardi rest stop on the Jersey Turnpike. From there, we would form our caravan, and head to the show. These were wonderful shows, and I learned the great life lesson: "Never try to learn how to rollerblade in the parking lot before a Dead show, while tripping on LSD."
