Hey y'all!

It was a massive honor to be asked to be a part of this awesome article by Sweetwater on the lasting impact of Satriani's Surfing With the Alien. Seriously, it is so surreal for me to look back and think that my brother Noah and guitar teacher Ben Franklin got me into this record a bajillion years ago when i started playing, and now here i am being interviewed about it alongside my heroes like Andy Timmons, John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert, and others. Life takes you on some WILD rides, and you honestly never even know when they're starting. It'll just seem like an ordinary Tuesday, or a record someone shows you... but then, 20 years later, you'll realize how important that moment was!

Hope y'all enjoy the article. Cheers, and thanks so much for all the support!

Joe Satriani: Surfing with the Alien's Enduring Echo - 35 Years On - inSync

Joe Satriani's long-standing status as an electric-guitar deity is indisputable. However, rewinding to 1987, the Bay Area transplant was a mere local musician looking to make his mark. He had performed with his own local pop-based trio, Squares, and alongside Greg Kihn of "Jeopardy" fame.

At first I was sooo pissed off when I saw they changed the cover of this album!! A guitar neck and no Silver Surfer?? I don't know... it's kinda growing on me, but this was such a HUGE album from right around the time I first picked up a guitar!
