MXR GT-OD: https://imp.i114863.net/DEyjn Guitar Month at Sweetwater: https://imp.i114863.net/QqjRA Hey kids! Its your buddy Uncle Ben Eller here with another sick Metallica breakdown, this time on the tiny details in Battery by Metallica! This song is up there with Damage Inc and Leper Messiah in terms of how many BAD tabs and lessons there are for it floating around out there! But with a little help, you're gonna learn just how James and Kirk play these legendary thrash riffs. We're gonna talk about the dyad use in the main riff and other bits of the tune, plus cover some of the chorus transition licks, Kirk's hidden metalcore riff, and James' SICK solo section riff. So many awesome parts in this song!!! Playing my Suhr Modern Satin into the Fractal Axe FX III, boosted with MXR GT-OD pedal. What Metallica riffs can you not find good TABs for? Let me know in the comments!

A lesson on Dyers Eve would be incredible. I could die happy if I could play that song the same way it sounds on the record.

Thank you for the great video :-) I love Battery as well. I remembering learning the main riff a long time ago the way you show it. It is more better music theory as well. The minor 3rd dyad (E-G) and the MAJOR 3rd dyad (D-F#) are both in the key of E minor. The riff has more emotional pull with the major and minor intervals. The same dyads are used in the opening guitar riff in Orion. I wonder if this is the influence of Cliff Burton during song writing??? I'm not a behind the scenes history buff but I did once read that Cliff's classical training rubbed off on the band, particularly in songs like Orion.
