I have been working on a tool tentatively called Vixen, as you may have seen on Twitter.

I want to talk about what Patreon supporters may expect from it in the next week or so.

Create toggles using Vixen

(This post is made public to everyone)

At the surface level, it is a tool that will let you create toggles on your avatar.

There's a good chance that you already use one such tool, or that you find no difficulties creating toggles on your own.

I try to design Vixen in a way that I can be personally satisfied with.

Therefore, you can modify blendshapes and shader material properties, but also request these materials to be modified across the entirety of your avatar.

As an example, you can choose to modify the outline width or minimum light level of all objects on your avatar.

It will use bd's NDM Framework to run non-destructively.

For non-English speaking users

Maybe you're reading this post using a translation tool.

Vixen is a quite complex tool, and the test versions of Vixen can be externally translated using a file.

If you have an OpenAI account, you may even submit the entirety of the English file to ChatGPT to produce a rough translation into the language of your choice. I will describe how to do this in the manual.

The first test version will not have everything I wanted

I am currently on a good path to publish a test version of this tool to Patreon supporters, but at first, it will not contain all of the features I intend it to have.

I understand the convenience of item slots and I want it, it just won't be there at first.

In addition, there is a feature that I had shown on Twitter which, after testing, is not ready or might not be in the final product due to severe drawbacks. It turns out that building some conditions can result in an unacceptable loss of performance, so it will not be available in its current form.

Therefore the versions I will publish will be test versions rather than releases, and I hope we can discuss them together on Discord in the #vixen and #vixen-fury channels.

Tandem with Animator As Code V1 on VCC

Vixen will be available for Patreon supporters (exclusivity limit will be decided later), and it will also rely on another of my works:

Animator As Code is a library for avatar creators who are also developers. I am working on updating Animator As Code from V0 to V1 in order to make it compatible with non-destructive workflows; Vixen is the opportunity to do it since it uses it at its core.

Animator As Code V1 will be published on VCC for everyone (not just supporters) under the MIT License.

Because of this, I will need to make sure that Animator As Code V1 can be installed even inside projects that already use Animator As Code V0, such as works made by suzuryg, pi, or some of your own.

Thank you for your support! ⭐

Really excited for this. This is the kind of thing I was really hoping would be / think should be available in the SDK for the avatar systems. Thank you Hai ⭐
