Building the Page: Ch 5 / Pg. 8 (Patreon)

HI WE'RE BACK!! I'm going to keep skipping around in this chapter! Because this is the last chapter in the first story arc, a lot of the most interesting things about the background intent of some pages would make reading the incoming rest of the chapter less fun, imo. I might go back into earlier chapters and talk about older pages I like, who knows, the future is a mystery ~✨

I REALLY LIKE DRAWING BABY PERCY!! I hope we do more flashbacks in the future, ha ha. I enjoy drawing kids in general and don't get a lot of chances to do it!

A lot of the visuals of this page are based on my memories from childhood; lying on the floor with a hand-me-down plastic recipe box full of partially used crayons and number-2 pencils. I looked at a lot of kids' drawings for this page, the way that kids tend to focus on how bodies are constructed and faces are put together.

OH, and you'll notice that Mom's face is fully drawn in some of the above steps, but was deliberately covered up in the final! That's because she still doesn't have a canon design, whoops!!!!!!!! Even so, I like for pages to have full finished art under the word bubbles... it makes editing and potential translation easier in the future. Also because we do text-less promo images on social media it gives us more choices in banner crops!
