I figured the bloat and power creep issues might weigh this one down for you all too, despite the incredible high points. Mark's mention of Bulma hit on another issue I didn't even think about but makes a ton of sense in retrospect too (my intro to anything Dragonball was the early portion of Namek, so I was def inundated with only Bulma at her worst). Makes even more sense why this was my personal #4.

I had never seen the series growing up and am now watching it with my husband and 2 human kids. Because I don't have any nostalgia attached to it, if it's getting excruciating in the pace department, I just leave the room. During Frieza vs Goku, I could go milk all the goats, clean the barn, and feed the goat kids only to find absolutely no plot advancement in the 4 episodes that had played while I was outside. As noted in this video, Bulma is the only female character who really does much of anything, so it sucked seeing her do nothing but read magazines and then get turned into a frog after crying beside a lake. I mean, I guess she had her moment with the crab? Ha!
