I would have put this at 1 personally, if only because the anime grinds the pacing of the Namek saga to a screeching halt during the climax.

1st big disagreement! I'm with Lani; this one's my #1. Definitely my favorite, flaws and all. Top 4 are all pretty close in my eyes though so it really is just up to what story elements stick with you the most.

For a series of dumb reasons, I missed out on the 19+20 arc when I was a kid watching it on syndication, so this saga never felt as long to me. But I also never connected with Gohan either so I hear those criticisms and agree. :)

I'm curious to see the top 3 in comparison. The Cell saga for me had all the obvious huge points. But there are a number of things that make the saga bad. 1: Trunks is brought in as a badass, then ends up as a punching bag for the rest of the saga, and needlessly killed by Cell in the end. 2: After all this time Gero had some BS strong as hell androids he never used? The last android we saw was Eighter, before these. 19 and 20 aren't that dangerous aside from draining energy, which makes sense as a gimmick android. But 16, 17, and 18 are super strong for no reason. 17 and 18 are also normal humans turned into cyborg/androids. It's not like they were top fighters. Cell is an interesting idea, but where in the hell did Gero get the idea to make an android that was more creature than mechanical? And for the sake of the plot, Cell is able to utilize all the abilities of Goku and friends. 3: When Cell absorbs 17 and 18, the anime does a poor job of explaining why they can't just escape his tail suction, or why anyone nearby doesn't just cut off Cell's tail, even if it grows back, you could stop the absorbing process. 4. Goku suicides with King Kai, though Goku could have easily dropped Cell anywhere, and returned to Earth to continue fighting. 5. Cell's attacks didn't do much to Gohan as SS2, yet when he saves Vegeta, Gohan is hit by Cell's blast and now Gohan is weakened and hurt? This is a minor issue, but it's all done for the story to have a huge finale. I see some major flaws and issues with the saga that can easily keep it from being #1. But it has some fantastic moments. 1 of which being 18 kissing Krillin. That was amazing. I definitely would say it's top 5 compared to the other sagas that it's competing with, but I wouldn't make it my top saga.
