Every character has a different set of goals, motivations and needs that make up their morality. Motivations help allow a player to set up a personal morality that permits a wider range of options when dealing with the morally grey setting of Beyond the Pale!

Beyond the Pale is inspired by the gothic horror, detective and noir genres, all of which have moral ambiguity in their makeup. This does not lend itself well to a traditional alignment system, one that splits the world into good and evil, when what is important is perspective.
