Hey guys, I hope you all are having a great week !

In this next update I intend to explore the "Souls" system a little bit more, add a few enemies and events that are still missing in the Grove and make some changes that have been bothering all of us for quite some time (Like Lisa's bad ending in the Deep Forest)

On a side note, thanks to your feedback, I've also noticed that some mechanics lack transparency. Nothing is as frustrating as being defeated or falling into a potentially lethal trap without knowing why or how it happened.

I'm still not sure how to solve this problem, to be honest, I'm not a big fan of direct warnings since you can only read four to five lines of text before the images start covering them. Many warnings can cause the game's UI to become polluted very quickly.

Perhaps adding or replacing some dialogues on certain characters could give these warnings in a slightly more natural way?

Anyway, Hero Corruption v1.20 is scheduled for release on Monday, 04/04 ! Thanks to all of you for supporting this project, and if you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to DM me 😉

You already have an enemies menu, maybe you can expand that with a warning/moveset button so players can check back what enemies do and from there get hints on how to deal with these mechanics.

Is there ever gonna be an expansion of the enemies menu to have the castle enemies?

Yup! It is not a priority tho. I'll try to add it now in version 1.20 but no promises 😶😶

I know it's not an easy thought, but it could be your starting to outgrow the eos/webtease engine. It's not really built for this sort of conventional game structure, and has a ton of corresponding limitations. Have you considered that a rewrite into something like RAGS or Twine might be needed in the future? That would remove all file size constraints, resolve the issues around saves, and give you full control of the screen real estate. It would let you do more complex variations on hidden buttons/moving buttons, and more gamey mechanics as well.

Hi Gerald! You're right. In these upcoming patches I'm placing greater emphasis on optimizations, there are a lot of actions that I created unnecessarily when I didn't have much experience with EOS. I believe that with these code changes, the longevity of Hero Corruption will be greatly extended, the 1.20 version itself is lighter than the previous one. That said, there will possibly come a time when EOS will no longer support updates, in addition to the fact that its functionality is quite limited. I'm completely open to migration, but there needs to be some way to import the game's code

Yeah! The stamina mechanic is awesome because it allows even more content, like accessories and perks as you mentioned, but also skills, status effects, various events, enemies and who knows what else! I'm really excited to implement it !

While you don't need to make the jump right away, it is a good idea to start sooner rather than later if you plan to change engine. If you still have the old versions of the tease, you could experiment with porting them (less content means it takes less time how well it converts) - but you probably will still need some time to do the conversion, which is why I suggest doing it now rather than when you have even more code to potentially rework.

I don't think your likely to find an export process from eos, and developing one would be non-trivial, in part because of the same limitations you are likely to bump into. Any port process from EOS is liable to be a full rewrite. You might want to try building out just an encounter or two in different engines as an experiment to see what that process looks like. Right now EOS works because your sticking to still images, but I imagine the second you try using animated gifs, longer audio clips or video, you'll run into that wall pretty quickly.

The pain of having the sunday free and knowing this will release when you work :(
