I know, this seems kind of ultra hard core for Sydney - stuffing a pistol in someone's mouth and doing her best to empty the magazine. In her defense, she immediately recognized Concretia when she turned around. She knew this wouldn't kill or even really hurt her, but in a situation that needs a split second reaction, Sydney was probably hoping to maybe disorient Concretia. It probably wouldn't be long enough for Sydney to find a piece of rebar or something to whack the concretopod, but doing something is probably better than doing nothing.

In reality, I think her gun might jam doing this. If Concretia bit down even a little, the slide on the gun wouldn't fully reset and the new cartridge wouldn't be seated correctly. I am far from a gun expert, but I imagine some guns might have enough play to fire another round if the slide is almost reset, but then I'd assume the outcome of that would be about 90% of fucking up the gun, and 10% fixing the jam.

There's a lot of balls being taken hostage lately. It's not indicative of anything going on in my life, I swear.

The vote incentive is updated, along with the nude version here at Patreon. Honestly, what is Sydney doing walking into a room labeled "Yoga 401?"

I keep telling myself that I'll do these solo pinup shots, but I keep getting ideas for some group theme picture. Honestly I think the best one I've done so far is the Dabbler solo pic, because I could spend all my time on a single character. But... this picture has a bunch of ladies, including three Harems being all bendy, so hopefully it's an acceptable tradeoff.

I have to wonder how much force the orbs are capable of in "free flight"? We know they can lock their position with enough power that not even Max can shift them.

I like Sydney going for her training, and going HAM.

Town Crier

Poor Concretia. She knows not what Hell she doth wrought 'pon her head, for Sydney is quite alert (when not distracted), improvisational, and brave; plus, she is much loved by her team mates.

Greg Morrow

Excellent tactics, Concretia.

Anonymous

Indeed. Excellent reflexes by Sydney, but perhaps not such good tactics - shooting the ball jail would likely provide more ...concrete immediate results. :)

If Concretia interfered with the slide, or if by pressing the weapon AGAINST her head, the pistol would be taken out of battery. Which is why you don't press these pistols against people and expect them to shoot.

"Unmoving" and "unstoppable" are clearly very different things in this situation.

Okay, 3 things I learned from this page. 1) Sydney's powers clearly have limitations, 2) other people clearly know and can adapt to those limitations, and 3) Sydney has apparently learnt to respond to #2 with immediate and *lethal* force. Though to be fair, most people who'd try something like that probably wouldn't be "normal" enough to be bothered by small arms fire anyway.

Kevin Wright

I'm... not sure where you get that. A semiautomatic pistol will most definitely fire when pressed against something. Why would it not? The slide moves backward. Unless you mean pressing somewhere besides the barrel end? Biting down, as Dave notes, would interfere with the action, though, for sure.

If the gun has enough force to blow off a concrete head Sydney could try shooting the mass that grabbed the orbs.

I'd now like to recommend Sydney practice the visual demonstration of heat as internal kinetic energy, and see how hot she can make her balls. ^_^ "When a gas is contained in a vessel of constant volume," Sydney gestured at the concrete construct which randomly emitted "klonk!" sounds, "and heated..." The sounds became both more frequent and louder, and continued to do so as Sydney continued. "...the pressure inside the vessel increases proportionate to the absolute temperature. If heated enough, any container will eventually shatter when a weak spot gives way." Sydney ended her lecture with a Spock-like eyebrow-raise as the tone of the sounds from the orb-prison shifted to more of a "krack" than a "klonk". It was at this point that Concretia realized that Sydney was now standing on the far side of Concretia from the orb-prison... OK, I'm sure Concretia can effectively keep the orb-prison repaired, but can she do anything else while doing so?

Excellent points! I'm really wondering if Concretia (daughter of Mr. Slate from the Flintstones?!?!) actually can keep up with an Orb-prison, that would put her on par or above Max on strength when she couldn't shift the balls when they used to be in the "pool stick case of doom." Granted Max probably wasn't set on maximum Strength at the time, but etc.

Also, gotta give Sydney props here for her reaction and exactly what she did, since she's been caught (and killed once? but time stuff) like this a few times before.

Sydney can move the balls, so she may be able to shatter the concrete from the inside.
