When Peggy says "the course changes" she just means that most of the pop-up targets have either a civvie or bad guy option. The course doesn't rearrange itself. No Shi'ar tech holo-suite danger room for Arc-SWAT quite yet.

I think the most impressive thing about Sydney's time in the course today (this literally took all day, far more than the seven tries show on this page. It's like 9:30 PM now) is that she did manage to radically improve her time without actually shooting herself in the leg. Peggy's been keeping a real close eye on Sydney's trigger discipline all day.

Sydney's actually still mostly afraid of guns, which is part of the reason she's so slow. If anything, she's too good with trigger discipline. She had been trying to make up a little time with her reloads, which led to the sequence in the middle of the page there, and that wasn't the only time she messed up a reload because she was rushing.

...could she even pass without the targetting glasses?

The question is... why? If there is ever a situation where Sydney's best option is to use her gun instead of an orb, and there is no one more trained in the use of firearms in a combat situation, something has gone horrifically, catastrophically, Maxima-has-gone-rogue-and-we're-all-f#^ked wrong. Don't get me wrong, the situational awareness aspect of the course is a huge benefit for Sydney, but by restricting her to running it without using her unique skills is a disservice and training the wrong reflexes. The teleport + shield combo alone makes Sydney's optimal tactics completely different.

She still needs to learn situational awareness, especially since her pew-pew orb is more powerful than anything that any Earth military could currently field, and a pistol can be isolated to the shooting range. Of course, she need not be using lethal rounds. She really should be using a pellet pistol for this training.

should have played more with her balls

All I could think of reading this is that the person running the company that manufactures these target boards is likely dancing in glee as Archon buys more and more in the wake of The Sydney Massacre.

I imagine so long as the cut-out retains most of it's structural stability you could get several re-uses per one just by colour-printing several paper "fronts" to them and some glue. Or hell even just a few paper patches of the appropriate bit over the bullet holes. Rather than using a completely brand new one each time.

Dave did a great job at showing what doing that kind of exercise over and over does, with the soaked in sweat t-shirt and all the scratches on her forearms.

The failed reload was the best part, especially the way it happened to slip between the sandbags.
