Surprised you hadn't rigged up a harness so you didn't have to bend down to pick up the controller Tom. An alternative would be to place the controller at the end of your 'runway' so you could pick it up as you release the plane into the air.

tomstanton

Yeah I was too focused on trying to get the plane working that a neck strap didn't even cross my mind! I did think of putting the controller at the end of the 'runway', but didn't implement it in the moment of rushing the launch haha!

Yes, enjoying getting caught up with your enthusiasm. Did you see my question on your regenerative braking vid for ebikes? Despite someone answering, I'm still not clear how it actually works! (Not being any kind of engineer!) Also, I've often wondered whether some small fans attached to the bike could provide a charge to the battery, utilising the airflow generated by forward motion. Would that extend the range?

tomstanton

I'm not entirely sure on how it works, but I have a rough idea. The motor has 3 wires which it alternates supplying power to when rotating. Then when in regenerative braking mode, the motor produces an AC voltage back into the speed controller, which is then converted back into DC to charge the battery. There should be a few videos on YouTube about how it works in a car, which is the same as my bike. Using the fans would probably be counter productive as I reckon the fan size required to produce a useful amount of power would add more drag than the power it produces.

Hi Tom, Thank you for your creative videos. Would you please share with me the .stl file of the wing airfoil. Thank you for your support.
