Hello Patrons,

James here, back for another update on what I’ve been working on in the Workshop over the last few weeks.

We are now back into our winter season, so are starting to service our running fleet for displays next year, alongside continuing with the Valentine project.

I have been helping rebuild the shock absorbers (see photo 1) and I refurbished the original trunnions, repairing the thread and improving the exterior condition which is important for the overall seating within the unit.

We have also refitted hubs and wheels. We now have 7 hubs and wheels on and have completed one full side of the suspension (see photo 2).

It has taken us three days to get four of the hubs and wheels on. It will probably take another 1-2 weeks to complete both sides. We are slowed down by limited manuals on the vehicle but hope to complete the suspension refurbishment before Christmas.

When not at the Museum I have been at college studying suspension and steering. We worked on a Model A’s front suspension which included removing the leaf spring, dismantling and then regreasing before reassembly.

That’s all for this update, but I look forward to updating you next month.

Thank you for your support.

James.
