In this video, Chris examines the Swingfire, a Cold War era, anti-tank guided weapons system. This powerful and hard-hitting missile was mounted on vehicles including the Striker, Ferret, and FV 432. With a range of up to 4km, it had the significant advantage that it would outrange tank guns and could be fired remotely by the controller, enabling the launch vehicle to remain in cover.

Thanks Chris, enlightening as usual. I remember when Swingfire went out of service the establishment I worked at had a reasonable collection of inert training aids which rather than getting them scrapped, I was able to get them transferred to the museum.

My father was a GW Instructor at the Gunnery School and later went on to be RSMI at Lark Hill when Swingfire came back to the RAC. Absolutely brilliant presentation I am sure he would have loved it. Thank you
