Hello Patrons

The last time I spoke to you, we were all gearing up for Tiger Day 15 and what an event that was! Aside from being extremely busy with the run-up to Tiger Day and preparing vehicles for display, I drove a Daimler Dingo and crewed a Stuart! For the first time in 4 years, I am happy to say I've broken my curse and did not break down on a significant event.

I also had the huge privilege of attending Silverstone as part of the Museum’s tribute to the late Murray Walker during the F1 Grand Prix. I was one of the crew to take a Sherman Tank M4A4 as an exhibit, and it was a fantastic four days.

Now it's the Summer Holidays the Workshop Team have been prepping the Tanks in Action Display vehicles. This is a six-week programme of different vehicles running around the arena from WW2 to modern vehicles from 1987, Challenger 1. As you can imagine, this means lots of work for us in the Workshop - which is great as it allows me to put all my skills to good use here, ahead of TANKFEST and back at College.

And finally, it's not an update from me without talking about my Land Rover! As part of my college qualification, I am required to strip and rebuild a gearbox. I have been given the green light to bring my gearbox into the Workshop. As soon as the Rover Engine is complete, the gearbox will get an overhaul. This means one less worry at home and hopefully have the skills of Les once again!

Thank you once again to all our Patrons for supporting the Workshop Apprenticeship at The Tank Museum. I’ll update you all again soon!
