Dear David Willey, I have a question about the shape of the turret of the British Cromwell tank. Why was the turret of the Cromwell built with slab instead of sloping sides as per previous cruiser tanks like the Crusader? I am guessing the answer includes ease of manufacture, but it does seem like a retrograde step given the greater protection sloped armour would give the crew. The turret on the Cromwell tank certainly looks rather old fashioned compared to tank's superb Meteor engine and transmission.

The missus and myself have spoke about this at length, on what we would do if we won the lottery. My first thought was buying a tank. Which raises the question. If I bought one, and wanted to place it in the front garden (semi detached house) is there anything I'd need to do to make sure it's ok to sit there?
