That one guy that said he’ll destroy the Elric brothers was in the story in the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime and manga. When the series was remade, they cut a lot of things for the sake of brevity. That included a lot of time with Hughes and Yoki’s (the guy) story where he was a military official exploiting a mining town. Then the Elric Brothers found out and exposed him, leading to his ruin.

Also, Barry the Chopper was in the original, but this was when he had a human body and there was this whole story with him. If I remember correctly, he tried to murder Winry in a meat locker but Ed stopped him and sent him to jail.
