Spectacular! I like the way they are introducing the characters and thank you John, for the back stories, clues and details. It makes it great to watch. So much going on and I am keen to see more. That giant does look like a young newly made Gandalf sent by the angels. Intriguing, eh? I need to read the Simarillion but should I watch with you first and read the book later? BTW orcs are vile in LOTR and it looks like they always were...I wonder why? I still need to sort out which groups are from where and when and how they fit into the story. Numenor looked fabulous and thank you for explaining why certain folk of Numenor fell out of love with the elves. Onward to episode 4. Your discussions with Steve are illuminating for those like me who don't know all the Tolkien lore and LOTR history.

I would say enjoy the show first! But you can start the Silmarillion, but it's VERY dense lol, and can be tough to keep track of, but definitely fun to read. - John
