Now you know why the opening of the episode was different - it was because of Dan's death. It's funny even though I am not in the Lucifer fandom anymore and I don't really care as much about the characters as I once did - this episode still makes me cry. As soon as Trixie walks in and asks for her dad I can't hold back my tears. And Amanadiel's speech at the funeral- jesus, Jerry...

Such a powerfully sad episode. I have watched a few reactors and watched grown men cry too...how invested we have become with all these characters and how tragic for Dan, after how far he had come in his development. I still tear up every time I re-watch- every damn time. The writers of this Show really know how to pull out all the emotions and leave us broken! At the time of filming this the creators and cast thought this was the last season and the actor that played Dan asked to be given the big tragic ending. However, half way through filming the final episode they all learned that they were given a season 6 and Dan (Kevin Alejandro) realised he might have written himself out of another season! However, no spoilers but knowing there was to be a season 6, the second half of the final episode was slightly altered and cut shorter so that the story could be further developed, widened and each character's end journey explored in more depth in another season. The final episode does leave the door open for many questions. As to whether Dan is in Hell? So many questions and theories there... I know after the final episode you will be wanting more answers and jumping straight in to season 6!

absolutely one of the most brutal episodes of this show to watch. great reaction as always guys. dan became one of my favorite characters, such a beloved guy that like ammenedial said, was always just trying to do better. this episode absolutely smacks me everytime i see it. Dan didn’t deserve it. The next episode is my favorite episode of the entire series. so excited

Lucifer essentially brought hell on earth to Lemec by whispering in his ear. Lucifer does not kill humans so by doing this, he inflicted the torture himself, not through Maze. I think it's greater punishment for Lemec than immediate death. This episode was very sad but brace yourselves for the next one, it's a real roller coaster.

This is a great episode in that it pulls the emotions out of everyone - even those who said they were upset, but hanging in there lost it with Trixie’s entrance and the “I want my Daddy!” Killed us all. To respond to a couple of your earlier questions, it is never explicitly explained why Gabriel and no one else could freely travel to and from Mum’s universe, but the assumption is that her Angel ability to deliver messages ANYWHERE is absolute. 2. All demons, including Maze do not have souls and once their physical bodies (not including borrowed ones they might be temporarily possessing) are destroyed, they cease to exist. They fact that Maze “miraculously” grew a soul and now has a conscience and real emotions only means that she, in the form of her soul would would end up in Hell or Heaven when her physical body dies. Supposedly her Demon form would still not age but is mortal.
