Waymond is played by Ke Huy Quan. Interesting story there. Ke Huy Quan was Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and then was in the Goonies. He then found it increasingly hard to even get an audition as he got older, and left acting. (He still worked in movies, though) When Crazy Rich Asians came out he felt sad having missed out, and considered coming back. And here he is. (There are more twists and turns, but there it is)
