As promised in the IGTV I posted today, here it is!

The outrage over Sainsbury’s Christmas ad with a black family proves it: the US is as racist as it’s always been - just horrific. I know it’s all echo chamber stuff but I just do not understand how anyone could feel so much anger and hate towards something that literally has no impact on their life… a supermarket advert…
Why TikTok’s Creator Fund Matters - Really enjoying Hank Green’s newsletter “Pay Attention” about the attention economy, creators and money.
Videos
The new era of positive psychology - this is an old old TED Talk (look how messy the stage is!!) so positive psychology isn’t exactly new anymore, I just came across this video during Yale’s Science of Wellbeing Course which I’m currently working through (it’s free!!) but I think 2020 has made it clear to me that the stuff in this TED Talk and the course is something I need to pay more attention to!
The surprising science of happiness - this just started playing immediately after I finished that first TED Talk. It goes more into how our brain doesn’t know what will make us happy and we tell ourselves all sorts of weird lies about happiness.
The WORST Celebrity Brand Deals Yet - appeared in my recommended. Love this shit. Tell me all about why Goop’s Jade Eggs are not only a rip off but unethically marketed. There was actually a lot more substance in this video than I expected (I wasn’t aware of the creator before) - loved the research going into some of the science behind products!
7 Insane Life & Money Lessons I Learned From Emily in Paris - I still haven’t watched Emily in Paris (and maybe never will at this point unless I get really bored over Christmas) but I’m always here for The Financial Diet’s hot takes on pop culture that deals with money.
Can you read graphs? Because I can’t - yep I also can’t apparently. But I do love a good pie chart.
This is Colorism - it pains me to spell that the American way but that’s the title of the video. This also appeared in my recommended and it’s a really great breakdown of colourism, the history of it and impact today. TJ1 has loads of other videos about race and politics that I want to dive into and also one about how Jean Grey is more powerful than Thanos??? Okay I’m interested.
How To Be Creative When You’re Feeling Existential - do we get an Evelyn video every month? She’s just so good! Kind of related to what I spoke about in my newsletter recently about trying to treat my creativity like sexual arousal. Love the emphasis on PLAY!
The phrase ‘Rape and Pillage’ | David Mitchell’s SoapBox - this video from 9 years ago appeared in my recommended???? Reminded me how funny David Mitchell is.
School lies to unlearn in your twenties - Leena fucking me up with her point about homework… I need to rethink everything now.

I Weigh - Seyi Akiwowo - Seyi runs Glitch UK which is all about digital citizenship and holding media platforms accountable for the harassment and bullying that happens on them. Great episode about mental health, social media and responsibility.
