Episode 10 Further Reading

Anti-Capitalist’ RSE - a great post by Justin Hancock of Bish Training about the new Relationships and Sex Education Guidance. It’s full of critical thought and nuance, like most of what Justin does is, around what good RSE looks like, “extreme political stances” in the classroom and anti-oppressive approaches to RSE.

Fat Liberation Manifesto - Stephanie Yeboah’s book introduced me to the Fat Liberation Manifesto. I found this version of it on someone’s tumblr. Definitely worth a read.

How YOU could make passive income on Only Fans?? - I have a funny feeling I’ve already shared this but it’s relevant to the episode so here we go again (maybe). Patricia Bright (The Break) talks about how to make a passive income on Only Fans. I feel like her approach is pretty balanced her - being encouraging but also realistic about being honest with yourself about your personal boundaries.

Other stuff

I Know I’m Late - Becky Alberalli’s blog post (author of Simon vs the Homosapiens’ Agenda) coming out as bisexual. She said that she didn’t feel ready to come out, it didn’t feel empowering or safe but she was doing it because of all the harassment and scrutiny she has received over the years. It was also recently National Coming Out Day and I saw a lot of conversations online about not having to prove or perform your sexuality for anyone and not forcing people to come out. Albertalli’s blog also stirred up some debate on Twitter about who can write queer stories. Article about it in Pink News.

Blog post that Albertalli referenced about adult-onset bisexuality.

WAP and the Spectacle of Sexual Liberation - One of the best videos I’ve seen in ages. Kimberly Foster of For Harriet talks about the WAP music video and the performance of sexual liberation/agency in general, how it can be tied to what makes $$$ and we’re all just trying to survive and asks the question - why does our liberation often look so similar (visually) to the male/white gaze?

Why I LOVE the BDSM Community - a combination of watching more Kat Blaque and some of the classes in my sexuality educator course about kink have got me understanding it a whole lot better as an outsider.

How Pregnancy Changed our Relationship and Sex Life - I just love Shannon and Jared’s videos they do together talking about their relationship dynamic and intimacy. Such graceful, human examples of the difficult, intense conversations, and how fumbling through it is better than not trying to communicate at all.

The Politics of Black HIV Prevention - this is episode 4 of Decolonising Contraception’s podcast “The Sex Agenda”. So interesting. It’s not a subject matter I’ve really looked into or talked about a lot online so it was great to learn about.

Swinging 101 - Hart’s Style - recent guests on my podcast! Here’s a video Shani and Tony did all about swinging!

A Bitter Truth - and a blog post from this week’s podcast guest (we talk about this in the episode) about being perpetually single and finding it hard to hear about other people’s love lives and relationships.

How Taboo Are These Sexual Fetishes? - do you like graphs? Different fetishes ranked with tabooness in society, how common they are and if there is a more male/female interest in them (I’m assuming cis).
