Hey, so sorry this was late!! I saved it as a draft and completely forgot to post it!
Articles
All You Need is Loves: The Truth About Polyamory - great article about different kinds of polyamory with interviews and stories from people in different structures of relationships. Also, I learned from this that apparently Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith are non-monogamous!? I wonder how many celebs are non-monogamous but don’t say anything because of the stigma attached.
‘... Baby One More Time’ Is The Debut Single No-One Has Been Able To Top, Even After 20 Years - I found myself in a bit of a Britney Spears whole as it’s the 20th anniversary of Baby One More Time. Wow.
Maker vs. Manager: How Your Schedule Can Make or Break You - this maker vs manager schedule is something I think I first heard about on Sara Dietschy’s podcast and then I kept hearing about it EVERYWHERE. You know I love productivity and organisation stuff. I think I definitely suffer from what they talk about being a mix of the two different schedules and I need to get better and setting boundaries and defining my time.
Stop calling teenagers millennials - I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I’m glad someone put it into words. Millennials are in their 20s and 30s. Teenagers are not millennials. I’m 26 and I feel like I have more in common with a 36 year old than a 16 year old in terms of generational references. I have no idea what teenagers like these days.
YouTube star the Chicken Connoisseur: ‘Deep down, vegans want to be us’ - my dad actually sent this to me months ago and it made me think. I never actually heard much about his Channel 4 show “Peng Life”. Was it another failed attempt at TV adapting internet success? I’d be interested to know if anyone saw it and what they thought.
On Being ‘Game’: What Happens When Sex Positivity Feels Like Pressure - great article about the danger of assuming people are always “up for it” based off their sex positivity. Some great quotes from Meg-John Barker in there too!
Podcasts
Do We Still Diet? - I loved this recent episode of Lucy Moon’s podcast with Bodyposipanda and Carly Rowena about diet culture and fitness. I’ve recently changed podcast app so sorry if you don’t use Pocket Casts as that’s the link.
Videos
The surprising pattern of color names around the world - I love this kind of shit. How we see colours, how we differentiate between colours and how we name them. I love it I love it.
Why is MR. BRIGHTSIDE still on the charts? - I just love how popular this song is still to this day and I don’t know a huge amount about music so as your average peasant music consumer I’m always curious about these sorts of things. I don’t know if I got an answer to the question the video poses but I did learn lots about The Killers, their career and how this amazing song came about.
This is what happens when you reply to spam email - I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this before but I couldn’t resist clicking when I saw it appear in my feed. Worth it though as it provided me with 9 minutes of lols and fun.
Emma Watson Interviews Reni Eddo-Lodge - I talked about Reni Eddo Lodge’s book Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race in a favourites video earlier this year and Emma Watson picked it as one of the books for her book club. Was very cool to see them sit down in conversation and it was a really interesting chat.
Emma Watson Interviews Rupi Kaur - another long one. I haven’t actually read any of Rupi Kaur’s books but have obviously seen some of her poetry on instagram. Although, after listening to this interview I definitely want to read Milk and Honey.
If Educational Videos Were Filmed Like Music Videos - this is such a clever concept for a video. I love Tom Scott, he’s a friend and very smart cool guy. This video is just pure genius.
Harry Potter: The World Needs Hufflepuffs - one of my favourite channels for movie/TV analysis, Screen Prism, back at it again with their Hogwart’s House analysis and this time it’s Hufflepuff! Obviously, I had to share with you folks :)
