Elijah's introduction was intense! He had such a commanding presence. And then he wakes up at the end...😳😳😲🤯😂 Elijah is the reason the originals exist! I mean the actor who played Elijah, Daniel Gillies. He is definitely my favorite Original. 😍

HELLO ELIJAH!!!! Fun fact: The actor, Daniel Gillies, is Canadian/New Zealander, though he grew up mostly in NZ (his parents are also from there). From 2004-2019 he was married to actress Rachael Leigh Cook, best known for her roles in the movies She's All That, Josie & the Pussycats and The Baby-Sitters Club. Without spoiling too much, though it is in part due to flashbacks, The Originals is not actually a prequel. Timeline wise, it starts at the end of S4 of TVD, which is also the best time to start watching it. The unofficial pilot is actually S4E20 of TVD. Fans are indeed divided but the majority think The Originals is the superior show, which I have to agree with. It's probably, at least in part, because it appeals to a more wider audience since it's more mature and more focused on family dynamics, but I still love TVD. It did start it all at the end of the day. And they did also focus on family dynamics, just not as much. I enjoyed the love triangle and the ship wars for the most part but the relationship between Stefan and Damon was always my favourite part of the show. Even the relationship between Elena, Jeremy and Jenna/Bonnie and Grams/Caroline and Liz etc. Also, I was a hardcore Stelena shipper and still am but Delena got me too, probably because of Nina and Ian's chemistry tbh. Though I do find it funny (and sometimes annoying) how Damon does one nice, selfless thing and all is forgiven. I know that's not what you said or meant but I'm also, and probably even more, talking about the super hardcore Damon fans.

By the way TO is not a prequel is one spin off of TVD; and the only one wort watching, the second spinn off is s huge dropp in quality, noty worth watching, and apparently Julie Plec is thinking of doing something else,, she announced they are talking about it at a comicn in Covington, If something will happan or not we will see. but is probably because of the growing popularity of TVD, started in the Covid period where TVD was stream only in USA fourteen billions times. In UK after Netflix didn't renew the licence was taken down in October, the experinced a stoorm of complaines, Twitter exploded with hundreds of people furious about it, forcing them to renew the contract, and when they put on again, it got again N 1 after 5 years from it's ending.

Loved the reaction and how much y’all are enjoying the show. 🦋 This is my opinion of this episode. Good on Stefan for apologizing because I do think it’s important for his development to rid himself of that guilt and to also try to put the past behind him while appeasing his brother but he’s a better person than me lol. Damon’s ultimate gripe is with Katherine being IN love with Stefan while merely loving him. My only complaint when it comes to Stefan is that he too forgiving in some circumstances. He’s too forgiving of the fact that his brother is in love with Elena and does not respect the boundary of his relationship. I sometimes, as a viewer, wish that Stefan’s character was not as forgiving and respectful of clear disrespect from Damon. The dynamic of him needing Damon which he states when apologizing and his love and willingness to do anything for his brother, clouds his judgement. I take Damon’s openness about his feelings for Elena as a sign of the difference in the love that each brother has for each other. It’s an interesting perspective but there’s still so much resentment because of Stefan always being chosen. While Stefan has unconditionally loved Damon through everything…even in his quest to spite Stefan for loving him enough to not want him out of his life forever, Damon does not have the same level of emotional guilt when it comes to hurting his Stefan or possibly doing so. That’s a line he’s willing to cross. I take Damon’s profession of love to Elena as a clear example of that and his compelling of her to forget doesn’t change that in my mind. I just think it shouldn’t have happened. I know enough about the characters so far to have this perspective that Stefan’s seemingly endless love for his brother and more respect for Damon than he deserves, is not exactly returned. There’s a difference. You get this feeling that Stefan would do anything for Damon while it’s not exactly mutual. I can’t exactly fault that type of quality in Stefan’s character (the endless forgiveness he has for Damon) because that’s one of the key qualities that makes Stefan an easy character to love, be sympathetic towards, and root for as he battles trying to balance prioritizing his humanity over the aspects that make him a vampire. I do love the development of their brotherly relationship because it’s great to see interpersonal relationships that are familial in this show. Obviously, Damon loves Stefan but I believe that even with that fact, Stefan’s love for his brother is immensely stronger and it comes across as unrequited in multiple ways. Lmao I find it hilarious that Damon is standing at the bottom of the stairs expecting Elena to run in his arms like ?…clearly she’s going to embrace her boyfriend. I’m not a fan of the love triangle/blossoming love triangle? I’m only on season 3 of TVD and I’ve seen bits and pieces of The Originals but I have to watch it in full from the beginning when I finish TVD. From my little viewership experience, I think The Originals is a fan favorite for those who prefer the focus of familial interpersonal relationships and not a complete overtaking of a story by ships or fan service. For me, I’m completely and forever enthralled with Stefan and Elena’s story as well as Bonnie so it will be interesting to compare them once I finish both shows. Elijah’s entrance was so exciting. He has a certain je ne sais quoi. I can see why he’s a fan favorite. The information we learn in this episode about Katherine and also Elena is interesting. I’m jumping on the Tyler and Caroline friendship development bandwagon. I think Caroline is the perfect person to help Tyler understand this new world he’s entered. His character, at times, feels disconnected from the core. I’d like to see him have someone he can trust. I’m loving Bonnie and Jeremy spending time together. They’re cute. Sometimes it feels that everything is all about Elena’s safety and everyone exists to protect her so it’s great to see someone care about Bonnie’s safety as an individual.
