The revelation of Elena's birth mother being Alaric's wife was insane! And Blake getting embarrassed when talking about the thirst comments 🤣 But Igli and Corey are also fine as hell!

Good lord...Stefan "if history is any indication, there is only one lair among us"...yes you Stefan, we haven’t seen Damon lying, not even once, Stefan, many times. After the vampire attacked Elena in her home, Damon suggested to get him that night, Elena immediately agreed with him and Stefan didn't like that one bit. He doesn't like that Damon and Elena bonded, in the road trip and he didn't like that Elena sided with Damon. Quoting Stefan " no, nothing hidden about it, no lie , no deception, I'll be there when you open the tomb...."etc. Instead he laid and deceit his brother and got Elena involved into the Damon's deception, so that he would get Elena teaming up with him to the expanses of Damon's trust. By manipulation he dragged Elena into it, and she is anything but a liar, forcing her to plot against Damon. The master manipulator at work. The show is telling you something and you are already deviate from what the show is telling you very clearly that the narrative bad/good brother is a starting point to get to a totally different point. The writers are showing you all the lies that Stefan is saying for a reason that shouldn’t be ignore or worse twisted in something that isn’t there. This show is extremely complex, and incredibly psychological, but is not bombastically obvious about it, it’s very settle, will give you little hints. The first season is the making or breaking of a reactor in terms of how much the reactor is capable to follow what the writers are telling you, the capacity to read body language that is extremely important n this show, and how well you can read people and not to fall into the trap of what is called “Confirmation bias” that is the tendency to process information by looking for, or interpreting, information that is consistent with their existing beliefs. This biased approach results in a person ignoring information that is inconsistent with their beliefs. You have to keep an open mind and follow what the show it telling you to go, because if you don’t follow, you are going to find yourself so far from where the show is, that you are going to misjudge motivations, evidences, character intentions everything to match your bias preconception. If the show is showing you that Stefan is a lair, it is because he is a lair, don’t find justification for his lying that aren’t there just because you already formed a preconceived opining about the brothers that isn’t what the show is about. The initial narrative god/bad brother isn’t there for you to stick to it for 8 seasons, it’s already diverging significantly since few episode and you haven’t picked it up. The road is turning and you keep going straight, if you don’t follow what the show is telling you, you will find yourself so far removed from what the show is going, that you will have to find more and more inexistent justification to match with your preconceive wrong opinion.

and you're not biased against Stefan or anything... People can be wrong with their predictions or thoughts about the show when they watch for the first time because they're not familiar with the story and what the writers envisionned, it's okay to interpret things differently it's really not that big of a deal. Also it's a fictional story no one should feel forced to interpret things a specific way just because the writers want to push this or that narrative. Interpretation will vary depending on bias (yes liking a character more than another is bias) and that's fine because at this point the audience still has limited information and only perceive the characters based on their actions and personality so far. Some nuances might be hard to catch at first. Yes there's more to the characters than meets the eye, but it's okay to be wrong, it makes the plot twists so much more shocking and entertaining because you don't necessarily expect them.
