I agree about the flip-flopping but in this case it was understandable so I cut Elena some slack. That being said, that Stelena scene is one of my faves, especially with the song Cut (not Cooked lol) by Plumb in the background. I discovered it on this show and later found out it's about self harm, which I have personally struggled with so it means a lot to me, but I also associate it with Stelena ❤

The flip flopping is definitely annoying. The writers of the show have detailed how much they hit the jackpot with the chemistry between the actors who play Elena and Stefan so there’s always this feeling of just wanting them to be together and on the same page without the back and forth. Their relationship is one of the best aspects of the show so far. So much chemistry between them and it pops off the screen. This episode has one of my favorite Stelena moments and it was beautiful. There’s this misconception that Stefan just chooses to lie to Elena which isn’t remotely true. I think hiding that you’re a vampire very early in the season is common sense. You have to navigate these complicated situations and the same goes for the Katherine situation. Elena does know the least bit of complicated details about the relationship Stefan had with Katherine and we get this energy that Stefan moved on from Katherine while his brother did not. You also have to be careful with how you approach someone with the Katherine and Elena lookalike situation. It’s the past for Stefan so I understand him trying to disconnect from that and not involve Elena in something that maybe initially attracted him because of this “is Katherine out the tomb or is she still in it” deal but we see that Stefan’s attraction to Elena is purely related to Elena as an individual. I think that’s a moment where you ask the source and not storm out but I do understand her side. Apart from that, I do like when Stefan and Damon are being brothers and when it seems like their tension is pushed to the side, but I can’t forgive Damon for the things he’s done like the Caroline situation. Ian being attractive definitely aids in how easily the audience seems to forgive him as a character while faulting Stefan for minor flaws that are very much human. What I love about this channel is how you guys are not weird towards Stefan for being a character that some may overly judge because he suffers from the “vampire who tries to be as morally sound as he can” phenomenon. Shows like this, audiences tend to view that type of character as “boring” while vilifying him for showing that he still maintains his humanity and while he is a vampire…he is also human in ways that this episode shows. That same audience that vilify Stefan, view the opposite (Damon) through rose colored glasses because he’s seen as what a vampire should be. People forgive the doings of his character even if it’s the most evil thing imaginable because they chalk it up to it being his nature. It doesn’t help that the actor playing Damon adds a charismatic element to his portrayal of the character. Great reaction and loving the double episodes per week.
