I enjoyed this film. I loved the cinematography as a cinematography enthusiast. I loved the warmth…the orange reddish color gradient. There’s also that signature gritty quality that Saw films are known for. The cinematographer of this film, Jordan Oram, said that Director Darren Bousman, wanted the film to be made on an extremely hot summer day. Jordan Oram took that and ran with it and he said the coloring of the film was inspired by Do the Right Thing and Seven which is super evident. There’s that same warmth of orange/red hues from Do the Right Thing that instantly screams summer but Spiral also has the feel of a Seven that has all the aesthetics of a dingy homogenous enclosed city in a classic film noir. There’s a mixture and the inspiration is clear which combines for a really nice Saw environment in my opinion. It’s sweaty and feels like a suspense thriller in some ways. I don’t think this film deserves as much criticism as it gets because there’s good qualities. Great reaction! 🫶🏽💕
